Calvary Church Drugs Healthy Child to Help in Custody Dispute
December 10, 2005
Just how far would a church go to help a church member in a custody dispute? For Calvary church, on Landis Valley Road, it means drugging an otherwise healthy child, violating court orders and helping to criminally frame the unwitting father! While 5thEstate.com has detailed how Judge Wayne Hummer has been the chief enabler of Wendy Flanders, the 2,500 member, mega-independent-church has used its connections and influence to fight and put down this father - whose only desire is to be involved with his child's life.
Ben Vonderheide, the father involved, has most recently faced 8 years in jail over false charges brought against him by his ex-paramour and now a single-mother-darling of Calvary Church, Wendy Flanders. The church, rather than encourage matrimony for this serial fornicator, has under-written Flanders' acrimony with a monthly stipend from their "benevolence fund".
Rather than fix the wrongs that Calvary Church and it's staff have done, the Pastor and "elder" board has used the pulpit, with its Sunday Morning broadcast on WDAC to put their "spin" on the crisis that has caused dozens of people to leave the church as the people start asking questions.
The propaganda spin began full fledge when Vonderheide, after exhausting months of behind-the-scenes attempts to resolve the issue, filed a lawsuit and then sent a postcard to many of the members and attendees of the church. The church bulletin on July 24, 2005 talked about how Christians should respond to "enemies" and then says this about the lawsuit:

NO evidence of illegality or sin? Oh really? 5thEstate.com editor Ron Harper, Jr. made repeated attempts to various leaders at Calvary for them to look at the evidence presented in this story and was rebuffed a dozen times or more. They absolutely asserted their unwillingness to even reconsider their position.
On August 21, 2005, Senior Pastor Johnny Miller used his Sunday Morning, WDAC broadcast to talk about how the church is suffering "persecution" for "righteousness"! The pastor spiritualizes the leadership ignoring, what should be declared as sin, by declaring that he has, "…committed to fast three times a week until God releases us from whatever foothold Satan may have in our congregation and I would pray that God would just send and outpouring of His holy spirit and blessing."

In August of 2004, Kathy's boss at Calvary, the head of the counseling department, George May, held a meeting with number of interested parties to try and get Kathy and her estranged parents to reconcile. For a number of years, Kathy will not speak to nor allow her 10 year old daughter to speak to her Calvary-church-member-parents. Witnesses at the meeting said that Kathy said that she has no interest in patching things up with her parents! May, who was leading the meeting did nothing and allowed Kathy to continue her role in helping Flanders in her custody fight with Vonerheide.
Yoder's husband Ted, is often seen sitting close to Flanders in the courtroom, seemingly protecting her from anything that might happen. (During a recent hearing in the back of the courtroom, Ted made a bizarre face at 5thEstate.com's smiling editor, Ron Harper, Jr. and whispered "Pathetic!")
Custody Fight Begins
After fighting two Protections From Abuse (PFA) charges, four Indirect Criminal Complaints (ICC),
two Criminal Harassment charges and many other abuses of the system, Vonerheide filed a "Petition for modification of a partial custody order." on August 6, 2004 to ask the court to give his son to him full-time and Flanders part-time.
Vonderheide, pointed out that Flanders had ignored the provisions of the custody order in that:
1) She refuses to use the child's name - Vonderheide - in order to cut off connection to his father.
2) She has filed various bogus criminal charges. On one occasion, the District Attorney's office had "nolle prosed" (basically erased them) because they were so bogus! May, while working as the head of Calvary church counseling department, had assisted in these bogus charges by transcribing dozens of phone messages in attempt to malign Vonderheide
3) Over a ten month period, Flanders had allowed Vonderheide to talk with his son only 5 times on the phone!
4) Flanders refused to allow Vonerheide his weekend overnight visits with his child
Vonderheide's attorney told Judge Hummer of the psychological evaluations of Flanders which revealed the very real and serious problems. She reminded the Judge that in the middle of all the police charges and elaborate schemes to set up Vonderheide and get him sent to jail and keep him away from his son - is a small child who is being psychologically damaged because of all the acrimony.
It was at this point that Flanders and Yoder kicked into high gear to ensure that Vonderheide had more to worry.
Six weeks later, Flanders filed the third PFA against Vonderheide on September 22, 2004. Five weeks later, Flanders filed a Indirect Criminal Complaint (ICC) against Vonderheide

5thEstate.com - thanks to the Philhaven lawyer was able to access medical records that show the criminal behavior of Yoder and Flanders to conspire to drug this healthy boy - all to help in a custody fight! Philhaven's internal computer program records entries chronologically from the bottom up. If you didn't look at anything else - this one page provides the most damage to Calvary Church's claim of innocence. Starting at the bottom, the first entry is June 28, 2004.
Druggin' Doctor
"He is fairly well related. Speech was normal in rate and volumne. He kept good eye contact. Mood appeared euthymic. Affect was appropriate, full ranged. He denied suicidal or homicidal ideation. The is no psychotic symptom. … The patient appeared to be of average to above average intelligence. The patient has fair impulse control, insight and judgement."

But probably the worst thing the doctor did was to cut out the father, who had the legal right to participate in his son's medical care, and take the word of a woman who apparently will do anything to have her way! Amazingly, this doctor decides - Let's give the boy Psychotropic drugs!

Vonderheide's petition on August 21, 2004 requested that his child be sent to counseling to deal with the problems related to the custody battle. Flanders fought the petition. All the while, Flanders was already having the boy treated - all without the father's knowledge!
While Vonderheide had suspicions that something was going on - without proof - he would look foolish for advocating counseling and then fighting against it! Here is part of what Flanders' attorney said - notice that he doesn't mention that the boy was going to Philhaven for past three months!
1) In violation of a court order and the law, manipulate the system so that a healthy child is diagnosed and given drugs. The father is kept completely in the dark!
2) All of these action are to get a biased, slanted report to be used against Vonderheide in his custody battle
3) After publicly fighting the counseling for their child, Flanders manipulates Vonderheide into picking Philhaven!
And in what has to be one of the most slickest "bait and switch", Philhaven ASKS Vonderheide permission for Dr. "O" to treat his child in January, even though he treated the child six months prior!
