Was the Agency repented at all? NO! After stealing Shope’s baby for nearly 2 months, the Agency had turned Shope over to the court’s "domestic relations". Why? They wanted her to pay them for taking care of her baby!

Baby Stolen!

Children & Youth Steal a Child!

December 1, 2006

Watch this guy! Lancaster County Children & Youth Agency was rocked in mid-August when long-time director Jill McVey split under what is euphemistically called "retirement". 5thEstate.com, along with DaddyJustice.com now brings an EXCLUSIVE story that happened three weeks prior along with the video that made it all happen!

Editor's note: My company, Melody Media co-produced the video along with DaddyJustice.com. r.h.

Lancaster County Children & Youth Agency along with one of their agents, Gary Sanderson are being sued in federal court for violating the civil rights of a Warwick Township resident and her baby. Sanderson, accompanied by two police officers, took Patricia Shope’s one year old daughter under specious reasons and threatened that, "the clock is ticking" and that the mom could lose her baby through adoption!

While the Agency had no problem in taking the child or an "emergency" basis, when it came time to giving the child back to the mother, the Agency continued to try and find reasons to keep the child!

Shope gave birth to Breyonna prematurely on June 2, 2005. A licensed insurance agent, Shope was dealing with the child’s chronic ear infections and other problems associated with a "premie baby". On June 6, 2006 the baby was brought to Lancaster General Hospital for an unexplained fever. The child was diagnosed with an ear infection and admitted to the hospital. Two days later, while sitting by her baby’s bedside Sanderson, along with two city police, came into the hospital room and announced that Children and Youth would be taking her daughter!

Why? Sanderson said she was on drugs! When she voluntarily submitted to drug testing and proved she wasn’t on drugs, Sanderson and company then accused her of Munchaussen Syndrome by proxy. (that is where often a mother makes their child ill to get attention) Sanderson, who has no training to make such a diagnosis was undaunted by the facts! Moreover, Children and Youth Agency lied, distorted and exaggerated in their petition presented to Judge Jim Cullen in order to take the child:

  • The illness (ear infections) are not associated with the syndrome in that you can’t “give” it to another person
  • The medical team at the hospital had already diagnosed the baby with chronic health problem unrelated to anything that related to the syndrome
  • Nothing in Shope’s actions would indicate she had the syndrome
  • The Agency had a completely different name for the mother on the petition to the court!
  • The Agency withheld the fact that the baby was born prematurely and the associated medical problems
  • The Agency exaggerated by nearly 300% the number of times the child was at the doctor
  • The petition had ZERO objective facts that would show the child was in danger!

To compound matters, at one point, Children and Youth notified Shope and her lawyer that there was a hearing at 1 PM. When Shope arrived at the courthouse, Children and Youth had already held the hearing!

Shope spent over $1,000 on getting a psychological test and report to prove she didn’t have Munchaussen Syndrome! Shope gathered medical records to show that Children and Youth lied on their petition to the judge regarding the child’s history. Did Sanderson admit they made a mistake and give the baby back to their mother?

Watch this guy! To the contrary, Sanderson warned Shope that she needed to agree with everything Children and Youth wanted to do or they would have her parental rights terminated and her baby adopted out!

Sanderson’s quote, "The clock is ticking"!

Despite having no reason to keep the baby, The Children and Youth Agency insisted on keeping the baby away from the mother unless she submitted to more intrusive probe into her life! When DaddyJustice.com came on the scene, Shope got her baby just 4 days later!

Was the Agency repented at all? NO! After stealing Shope’s baby for nearly 2 months, the Agency had turned Shope over to the court’s "domestic relations". Why? They wanted her to pay them for taking care of her baby!

And just how well did the Agency care for the baby? Remember that the Agency forced Shope to spend over $10,000 to defend herself against false charges. The worse charge leveled against the mom was that SHE was making her child sick! It wasn’t without irony that when the foster mother handed the baby back to Shope, she warned her that the baby had a fever!
