Wheaton Dance Wild & Crazy?
Smear Campaign Ratches Up a NotchFebruary 22, 2007 D R Horton is back in trouble again. The multi-billion-publically-traded company is currently being investigated by Readers might recall that in our last investigation that Horton Employee Tom Huggins called the police and falsely accused 5thEstate.com's editor Ron Harper Jr when he showed up to ask questions about the tax invading. When Huggins saw that wasn't working, he then accused Gary Stauffer of hitting him with his truck – all while the police were present!
The previous false accusations said the following: "HEY OFFICER, OFFICER right here, right now. Come here. He just hit me with his truck!" The video shows Huggins' employees not even pausing as they walk by their screaming boss! Apparently these sauntering employees did not get clued into the act! "
Those that spoke included prominent businessmen Pat Stillman and Tom Shea at the quiet affair that had no loud-speaker system and lasted about an hour. The problem? Horst Property Management sent the hostess, Linda Stauffer (wife of Gary Stauffer) a letter accusing those at the rally for "significant damage to the Clubhouse dance floor."! It also includes a paragraph that threatens that "Ms Wheaton, as your guest at the Clubhouse, Ms, Wheaton may also be responsible to you and the Association for the repair costs!" While the list of potential witnesses in the threatened legal action includes many upstanding citizens, it also included Lancaster Sunday News reporter Helen Adams! The rather benign invent included no dancing and no activity other than talking and eating a few snacks making the baseless allegations even more ridiculous.
The "community building" is owned DR Horton while Horst Property Management has a contract to maintain the outside of the development including grass cutting and snow removal. Interestingly days after the event, was still was trying clean driveways and sidewalks in the community. Pictured is a home 5 days after the storm with no snow removed from the sidewalk or driveway but the mailbox knocked down!
